The Abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike

In the 1930’s, a new kind of roadway was conceived. A “superhighway” of sorts that would cut through the heart of a state and connect millions of people to each other, and more importantly, to the rest of the country. That road was the Pennsylvania Turnpike. This is how one of America’s great engineering achievements made a 13-mile detour and became one of the most unique places to visit in the entire Commonwealth. But it’s history is wrought with failure that runs so deep, it’s responsible for bringing some of the richest men in the world to their breaking point. This is the Abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike.
